The Commission has received an application from America Online/Time Warner, Inc. (AOLTW) requesting approval of a non-affiliated Internet service provider (ISP) and alternative cable broadband service agreement. Pursuant to Paragraph II.A.2 of the decision and order finalized by the Commission on April 17, 2001 concerning AOL's acquisition of Time Warner, Inc., AOLTW has requested FTC approval of: 1) Internet Junction Corp. (Internet Junction); and 2) the alternative cable broadband ISP service agreement entered into between Time Warner Cable (TWC) and Internet Junction to provide cable broadband ISP service in TWC's Tampa, Florida and Central Florida Divisions.

The FTC is accepting public comments on the proposed application until October 26, 2001. Submission of FTC report to the Senate Special Committee on Aging:

The Federal Trade Commission has submitted its Staff Report on Activities Affecting Older Americans to the Senate Special Committee on Aging. The report describes the FTC’s law enforcement initiatives within its consumer protection and competition missions which are of particular importance to older consumers, and highlights the Commission’s consumer education program, from January 1999 through August 2001. The report was prepared at the request of the Senate Special Committee on Aging and sent to the Committee on September 10, 2001, and is available from the FTC’s Web site.
