All aboard for Atlanta

According to musical legend, a buddy of songwriter Jim Weatherly commented that his girlfriend was leaving on the “midnight plane to Houston.” The buddy was Lee Majors of Six Million Dollar Man fame and his girlfriend (and later wife) was actress Farrah Fawcett. Mr. Weatherly filed the phrase away and later used it as inspiration for his megahit, Midnight Train to Georgia. Our point – and yes, we have one – is that no matter how you get there, meet us in Georgia on August 15, 2019, as we relaunch our business education series, Green Lights & Red Flags: FTC Rules of the Road for Business.

The FTC staff hosted 25 Green Lights events a decade ago. We’ve updated the agenda to focus Version 2.0 on the marketing platforms and business challenges trending today. Topics for discussion at the new Green Lights & Red Flags include data security, truth in advertising, social media, and antitrust, presented in to-the-point fashion for busy executives and attorneys. The FTC is co-hosting our first relaunched Green Lights & Red Flags with the Office of the Georgia Attorney General, the State Bar of Georgia Antitrust Law Section, and the Better Business Bureau Serving Metro Atlanta.

In addition to federal and state enforcement attorneys, advertising and data security professionals, and private practitioners, speakers include FTC Commissioner Rohit Chopra, Georgia Attorney General Christopher M. Carr, United States Magistrate Judge Catherine M. Salinas, Presiding Judge Sara L. Doyle of the Georgia Court of Appeals, and Daniel Kaufman, Deputy Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection.

Green Lights & Red Flags will convene at the State Bar of Georgia Conference Center, 104 Marietta Street NW, in Atlanta. The $20 registration fee – which includes lunch – is payable to the State Bar. The event sponsors have requested 6 CLE hours, including 1 Professionalism hour (pending) and 1 Trial Practice hour.
